트라우마와 이행기 정의 ― 10·19 사건 피해자의 집단트라우마와 유가족의 말하기 ―

초록

This study examines the patterns and mechanisms of collective trauma caused by state violence by analyzing the testimonies of the October 19 incident victims from the perspective of transitional justice. The mainstream trauma approach, rooted in a medical model, tends to decontextualize state violence trauma and reduce it to individual-centered solutions. Such an approach risk contributing to the continuation and reinforcement of the power relations and structural injustices that generate violence trauma, rather than dismantling them. Therefore, this study conducts a qualitative content analysis of the victims’ testimonies from a social justice perspective to explore the intrinsic link between human rights violations and trauma. Furthermore, it presents the generative mechanisms constituting the collective trauma of October 19 as a “laminated system.” Based on this analysis, the study proposes the necessity of practicing transitional justice that integrates a redefinition of the October 19 incident, judicial progress in expanding the category of ‘victims,’ and healing justice that supports and centers survivors’ testimonies.
