초록
This study conducted the dimensional stability of cork composite wood flooring panels composed of four species of two temperate and two tropical woods as face layers and cork boards reinforced with metal, glass fiber, or carbon fiber as the core layer. In comparison with the face layer wood species, the average water absorption rate of the tulip tree (Tu) showed the highest value (6.1%), and teak (T) and merbau (M) showed the lowest value (4.7%). It showed that the wood flooring composed of the tropical wood species had lower water absorption rate than that of the temperate wood species with low-density. Among the core reinforcements, the CM (cork board-metal) type showed a higher water absorption rate than the CG (cork board-glass fiber) and CC (cork board-carbon fiber) types because of the differences in absorption amount depending on density. Among the face layer species, the flooring with tulip tree showed the highest thickness swelling rate (7.2%), and teak (T) showed the lowest value (3.9%). Overall, the thickness swelling rate of the CM (cork board-metal) type of wood flooring was 2 - 3 times greater than that of the CG (cork board-glass fiber) and CC (cork board-carbon fiber) type of wood flooring. All types of wood flooring without the wood floorings with CM type showed excellent dimensional stability below the KS standards.
