멍게 양식업의 발전과정에 관한 연구

초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the main characteristics that appear in the process by considering the development process of the domestic sea squirt farming. Sea squirts are marine products that occupy an important proportion in the domestic fish industry. The aquaculture industry is developed centering around Tongyeong city, on the southern coast of Gyeongsangnam-do, where more than 70% of sea squirts are produced for domestic distribution. However, research related to sea squirt farming is focused on the fields of nature and science such as seedling production, disease, and aquaculture technology. Research in the humanities and social fields is very scarce. Therefore, this study recorded the past footsteps of the sea squirt farming industry based on literature research and expert advice and analyzed the causal relationship of the main characteristics. As a result of the study, the sea squirt farming industry achieved industrialization by significantly increasing its production volume as aquaculture technology was distributed to private farmers in earnest due to the successful development of artificial seed production technology in the 1970s. In addition, the Hanging Culture Fisheries Cooperative(aka. sea squirt fishery cooperative) was established, and after the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, the industrial structure of the domestic sea squirt farming industry was reorganized due to domestic imports of sea squirts from eight regions near Fukushima. In addition, in Tongyeong, the main production area of sea squirts in Korea, second-generation farm managers are united to form a developmental group for sustainable sea squirts farming. Finally, the construction of a new consignment market for sea squirts can be seen as the result of the efforts and will of sea squirts farm managers to improve the distribution structure, unstable supply and demand system, and hygiene issues that have been steadily raised in the sea squirts farming industry. This study is significant in that it provides basic data for domestic fisheries research by examining major characteristic cases that appeared in the development of the sea squirt farming industry.
