FDI가 지역 기업의 혁신성장에 미치는 영향 : 경상남도 FDI 투자를 중심으로

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) contributes significantly to regional economic development by promoting domestic investment, job creation, and innovation through the inflow of foreign capital. This study examines the impact of FDI on the innovation and growth of local firms, using Gyeongsangnam-do as a case study. Firms that received FDI were compared with those that did not in terms of growth performance, profitability, employment, and innovation activities. Data were collected from the Foreign Investment Statistics System (INSC) and credit information from CRETOP for the period 2015 to 2024. To control for selection bias, Propensity Score Matching (PSM) was applied. The analysis shows that FDI-recipient firms outperformed non-recipient firms in profitability, innovation, and employment growth. These results suggest that FDI not only brings capital but also facilitates the transfer of technology and managerial expertise. The findings offer policy implications for future FDI strategies, particularly in aligning with strategic industries such as aerospace and defense in Gyeongsangnam-do.
