바나듐 산화환원 흐름전지에 적용하기 위한 상용 음이온 교환막 특성평가

Since renewable energy has an intermittent problem, it is necessary to introduce an energy storage system, and as part of this, research on an all-vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) is being actively conducted. In this study, the performance of Nafion 212 and the hydrocarbon-based commercial anion exchange membrane applicable to the vanadium redox flow battery were compared and analyzed. The anion exchange membranes employed were Sustainion X37-50 grade T, PiperION®, and FAA-3-50. Scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive x-ray, thermogravimetric analysis, universal testing machine, membrane swelling, moisture content, ion exchange capacity, and ion conductivity were used to conduct a basic membrane characteristics evaluation. After confirming the coulomb efficiency, voltage efficiency, and energy efficiency of the commercial membrane at each current density through the performance evaluation of the redox flow battery cell, the efficiency was confirmed at 75 mA/cm2. To ensure the long-term efficiency change, the applicability of PiperION® was evaluated from a long-term perspective. In the self-discharge performance evaluation, which is the ability to maintain the capacity of the battery, it was confirmed that the PiperION® anion exchange membrane recorded the longest time (177 h).
