Recovery of Delayed Setting in High-Thixotropic Cement Mortar by Incorporation of Reduction Slag

초록

This research aims to address the issue of setting time delays that occur when thixotropy is imparted to cement-based materials using PVA and borax, in order to prevent formwork leakage in high-fluidity concrete. As a solution of delayed setting of the mixture, reduction slag was introduced in this research. Experimental results demonstrated that the use of reduction slag effectively mitigated the delayed setting in thixotropic cement mortars. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the addition of reduction slag helped maintain both high fluidity and enhanced thixotropic properties. Therefore, this study concludes that reduction slag not only serves as a means to prevent formwork leakage in normal- strength high-fluidity concrete, but also effectively resolves the setting time delay caused by thixotropy-enhancing additives. Based on these findings, reduction slag is proposed as a favorable solution to address setting time delays in thixotropic cement mortar systems.
