쇼펜하우어와 프로이트: “깊은 슬픔의 즐거움”과 “죽음충동”의 사변철학

초록

This study examines the philosophical origins and the clinical and practical correlations between Schopenhauer’s ‘metaphysics of will’ and Freud’s psychoanalysis. Both thinkers, grounded in the Kantian dichotomy of thing-in-itself and phenomena—while incorporating Hegelian interpretations of Kant—systematize the notion that unconscious forces (will/drive) dominate and guide human existence. Specifically, this paper analyzes the relationship between Schopenhauer’s interpretation of the principle of sufficient reason and Freud’s metapsychological and clinical considerations, re-evaluating the status of sexual drives and the nature of psychosis. Furthermore, it compares Freud’s ‘death drive’ with Schopenhauer’s ‘denial of the will,’ reconstructing the complex relationship between life and death drives. Ultimately, it illuminates the dialectical tension and correspondence between speculative metaphysics and clinical psychoanalysis, critically highlighting the theoretical and practical convergences and divergences between these two thinkers.
