초록

This study examines Jinju Geommum (Jinju Sword Dance), a National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Korea, within the framework of Joseon Yeak (禮樂) thought to clarify its form and meaning. It first reviews the institutionalization of Yeak and the systems of training and transmission that supported court banquets and jeongjae as an integrated order of ritual (禮), music (樂), and dance (舞). It then analyzes Geomgimu in the Gichuk Jinchaneuigwe (1829), fo cusing on musical placement and titles, formations, and sword techniques, and argues that the dance—set at the banquet’s conclusion—functioned as a Yeak mechanism that gathers and purifies heightened energies through a Yin–Yang and Five Phases logic. Finally, by tracing transmission via seonsanggi and local gyobang networks and by comparing court Geomgimu with Jinju Geommu, the study positions Jinju Geommu as a court-Geomgimu lineage that inherited and transformed Yeak principles.
