식민지 문화민족주의자의자기 구축과 그 내적 원리- 1920년대 초반 이광수의 사상을 중심으로 -
초록
This study examines the formation and appropriation of cultural nationalism in colonial Korea through an analysis of Lee Kwang-su’s intellectual trajectory in the early 1920s. In response to the collapse of political nationalism under colonial conditions, Lee reimagined the nation as an organic community founded on cultural and spiritual homogeneity rather than political sovereignty. Following the Kando Incident, he abandoned the prospect of armed struggle, emphasizing instead a biologically continuous and spiritually cultivated nation sustained through ongoing belief and ethical self-cultivation. However, this framework, while negating the colonial reality, failed to articulate concrete political strategies for transformation, confining the project of national reconstitution to a repetitive cycle of inner faith and moral discipline. Lee’s cultural nationalism, though seeking to transcend modern individualism and political nationalism, ultimately adhered to a logic of immediacy rooted in biological and spiritual sameness. This orientation not only exposed structural contradictions within his thought but also prefigured the later convergence of his ideas with fascist discourses in the 1930s.
