Development of a Performance Testing System for Ensuring Ball Screw Reliability

초록

The quality of domestic ball screws has advanced to a level comparable with that of leading global manufacturers through continuous research and development. However, limited verification of performance and durability, along with an insufficient systematic testing infrastructure, constrain market adoption and export opportunities. To address these challenges, this study developed a comprehensive performance testing system to ensure the reliability of domestic ball screws. Following analytical verification of structural stability, a dedicated test bench was designed and fabricated. The system integrates a thermal imaging camera, displacement sensors, microphones, and accelerometers to monitor key parameters such as temperature fluctuation, thermal displacement, noise, vibration, positioning accuracy, and repeatability during ball screw operation. Furthermore, a PLC-based interface software was developed for real-time data acquisition, recording, and analysis, offering a systematic platform for performance evaluation. The proposed testing system establishes a strong foundation for enhancing the reliability of domestic ball screws, expanding their application in machine tools and industrial equipment, and reducing dependence on imports. Additionally, the reliability data collected will support the development of ultraprecision ball screws and contribute to the technological advancement of related industries.
