초록

This study examined the retrofit of modern educational facilities under the National Cultural Heritage Protection Act, assessing energy consumption and performance using DesignBuilder simulations. The retrofit improved building performance and reduced energy consumption by 14.4%, yet thermal comfort remained an issue. After a change in purpose, both energy efficiency and comfort improved further. Aligning with domestic standards enhanced outcomes by 20.7%. These findings highlight the need to revise Korea’s Cultural Heritage Protection Act to support the efficient use of modern architectural heritage while balancing preservation and performance improvements. © 2025 Building Simulation Conference Proceedings.
