음이온 교환막 수전해 시스템 응용을 위한 폴리(디벤조퓨란-바이페닐) 기반의 음이온 교환막 개발

초록
In this study, a graft-structured ionomer precursor (BFBC7Br) was synthesized through condensation polymerization using a superacid catalyst with dibenzofuran (BF), biphenyl (BP), and 7-bromo-1,1,1-trifluoroheptan-2-one (C7Br) as monomers. Subsequently, a BFBN ionomer capable of OH⁻ ion conduction was prepared via a quaternization reaction that introduced quaternary ammonium groups. The chemical structure, molecular weight, and thermal properties of BFBN were characterized, and a BFBN membrane was fabricated using the solution-casting method to evaluate its hydration behavior. Furthermore, the mechanical properties and ionic conductivity of the BFBN membrane were compared with those of PiperION to investigate the effect of structural differences on the membrane performance. The BFBN membrane exhibited better deformability (i.e., elongation at break) due to the introduction of flexible alkyl side chains and demonstrated superior OH⁻ conductivity, which was attributed to the formation of microphase-separated hydrophilic and hydrophobic domains stemming from its graft copolymer architecture.
