Recent industrial developments have steadily increased the demand for piping. Consequently, high-frequency bending piping products have been extensively utilized for various fluid supply piping and equipment wiring protection devices. High-frequency induction bending technology is in particular demand in nuclear and thermal power plants, LNG carriers, offshore plants, and oil and gas systems. This study aimed to identify the optimal bending conditions for products with a bending curvature of 4D (based on the outer diameter of the pipe) or greater to improve productivity and maintain a maximum wall thickness reduction rate of 12.5% or less. Furthermore, this study aimed to minimize potential problems such as buckling, ovality, and wrinkles that can occur during the bending process, thereby contributing to the production of more reliable bent products. In this study, a 168 mm O.D. pipe was selected and bent at various angles to assess wall thickness reduction and ovality and to verify the characteristics of the bending process.
