In this paper, despite the root of the word is a special form of proper noun, the recently widely used composition of ‘N-i/ka N-haet-’ is considered as a ‘construction type new word’ and the characteristics are analyzed in relation to tautology. Unlike the tautology, the construction type new word ‘N-i/ka N-haet-’ requires N as a possible target. Only ‘N-haet-’ as a completed act(or event) is permitted, and the meaning area is narrower and special than that of the tautology. In addition, unlike the meaning of the tautology, which is created in the socio-cultural context and has a fixed meaning, it is possible to communicate the meaning by sharing only the context of the dialogue situation that ‘N-i/ka N-haet-’. This enables immediate generation and relatively convenient communication. In particular, the characteristics of rapid generation and deformation are qualifications suitable for new words that aim to be fun. This helped to be recognized by language users. The similarity of form and semantic composition between the construction type new word ‘N-i/ka N-haet-’ and tautology would have helped Korean speakers with knowledge of tautology to easily accept and actively use ‘N-i/ka N-haet-’. And the difference between the two compositions make ‘N-i/ka N-haet-’ actively functioned as a new word.
