Development of an AI-Enhanced Web Application to Support Reverse-Engineering Instruction

초록

This study aims to develop an AI-integrated web application to support reverse engineering education for mid dle school students, addressing the limitations of traditional reverse engineering instruction. Applying Design and Develop ment Research (DDR) methodology, design principles and guidelines were derived through expert interviews and literature analysis. Based on these insights, a prototype web application was developed. Subsequently, a usability evaluation was con ducted with experts having experience in teaching AI-based reverse engineering courses. The results indicated high satisfac tion with task performance efficiency and AI-based features. Based on the usability evaluation results, several improvements were made including the provision of tutorials for main pages, expanded API functions, interactive explanation of tool mod ule, and optimized chatbot usage. The final AI-based web application effectively supports middle school students achieving reverse engineering learning objectives and enhances its applicability in classroom settings. Future research should focus on systematic verification in real educational environments and the development of targeted educational support programs for teachers and students.
