초록

This paper aims to systematically analyze how Farkhat Sharipov, a prominent Kazakhstani director, integrates visual, musical, and spatial elements to realize themes of love and redemption in the musical film "Soldier of Love". Specifically, the research sought to address the following questions: First, through what shot compositions and visual characteristics does the film express the emotional journey of protagonists Altair and Aruan? Second, how do cinematic techniques such as handheld shots and long takes harmonize the exaggerated expressions of musical genre with cinematic realism? Third, how do music and choreography transform everyday spaces into artistic fantasies and visualize the redemptive power of love? Fourth, what discrepancies exist between the director's intentional mise-en-scène and actual audience reception, and what do these suggest? To address these questions, the research conducted a shot-by-shot analysis of the film's key sequences, microscopically examining the interactions between cinematographic elements including camera movements, frame compositions, lighting, music, and choreography. Additionally, by comparing and analyzing the director's intentions with audience responses based on the Q&A session records from the 2024 Busan International Film Festival, the study illuminated the communicative aspects of the film. The core argument of this research is that "Soldier of Love" creatively reinterprets musical genre conventions, exploring the transcendent power of love that integrates personal struggle and social success through parallel structures of love and conflict, and the fusion of everyday reality with artistic expression. Particularly, the film sensuously embodies the redemptive capacity of love through musical expressions in realistic spaces, while simultaneously revealing limitations of cultural translation and narrative simplification. Through this complex analysis, the study demonstrates that "Soldier of Love" opens new aesthetic and thematic horizons in Kazakhstani cinema, expanding the possibilities of emotional narrative through the convergence of music and visual imagery. The research contributes to understanding how contemporary musical films can transcend genre boundaries and articulate complex emotional landscapes.
