초록

The requirement of an energy storage system that can perform efficiently is under serious consideration. These requirements accelerate the research over the lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) that can ensure high system performance. Among different cathodes introduced, vanadium oxides are very promising family of materials for LIBs due to the safety that it can ensures even at extreme thermal conditions. Apart from this, the tunable oxidation state and layered structure warrant the proper intercalation mechanism in this material and promote it as one of the best choices of cathode. However, the low structural stability and slow electrochemical kinetics lead to poor cycle stability that limits its practical application. For enhancing the electrochemical properties of vanadium oxide cathodes, new breakthroughs are made with the introduction of electrospinning. Electrospinning is a versatile method that is used for the development of electrodes, especially cathodes and electrolytes in LIBs. Electrospinning can produce one-dimensional nanofibers that can guarantee a better battery performance. This chapter focuses on the synthesis, modifications and applications of electrospunned vanadium pentoxide cathodes for LIBs. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
