부부 갈등 서사에 나타난 감정 구조와 관계 윤리 -<현씨양웅쌍린기>와 <눈물의 여왕> 비교를 중심으로-

초록

This study compares the classical Korean novel “HyunSsiYangWoongSsangRinKi”and the contemporary drama “Queen of Tears”to examinethe structure of emotional expression within marital-conflict narratives,and the influence of these emotional structures on relational ethics andsubjectivity formation. Emotions are not regarded as mere innerreactions, but as socially mediated forces that determine the position ofthe subject through the conditions of expression and recognition. In “HyunSsiYangWoongSsangRinKi”, emotional articulation issystematically repressed. The protagonist denies the authority to expressher feelings, and her internal struggles are mediated through silence,bodily sacrifices, and third-party interventions. This narrative structurereinforces the moral order in which emotional suppression is valorizedas a virtue. By contrast, “Queen of Tears” presents an affectivedynamic in which emotions accumulate, transcend repression, andultimately restructure the relationship. The verbalization of emotionsenables the female protagonist to become an agent of relationaltransformation. This contrast reveals the manner by which emotional expression functions as a structural device that reflects and creates ethicalorientation in each narrative. Whereas the former privileges thepatriarchal order and the restoration of social roles, the latteremphasizes emotional reciprocity as a condition for ethical renewal. Through these differences, this study highlights the historicallycontingent manner in which emotions are authorized, silenced, orrevalued in narrative discourse. Employing affect theory as an analytical framework, this studyestablishes an interpretive model that correlates emotional structureswith narrative ethics in both classical and modern texts. This approachcan be applied to analyze gendered narratives over time, particularly inrelation to conflict, identity, and ethics.
