초록

This study aimed to examine the level and characteristics of perceptions of private education among parents with children in early childhood (ages 3-5) and early elementary school (grades 1-2). A nationwide survey was conducted with 752 parents, and the results revealed significant differences in parental perceptions based on residential area, age, educational background, and household income. In addition, the child's developmental stage played a key role in shaping the focus and content of parental perceptions. Parents of preschoolers showed heightened sensitivity to psychological and sociocultural factors such as competitiveness, conformity, and expectations of success through education. In contrast, parents of early elementary school students demonstrated stronger perceptions regarding academic achievement and the importance of subject learning, particularly within the domain of the expected outcomes of private education. These findings suggest that the phenomenon of early private education overheating cannot be explained solely by a lack of information or economic resources. Rather, an integrated approach that considers parents' psychological motivations and sociocultural contexts is necessary to address the underlying causes effectively.
