초록
This study was conducted to investigate the impact of learned helplessness on recovery from chronic schizophrenia and the moderating effects of subject characteristics, such as gender, outing, and admission periods, on the relationship between learned helplessness and recovery. The study subjects were 105 chronic schizophrenics admitted to two mental health hospitals. The analysis was performed using the Independent t-test and one-way ANOVA. The correlations between hospitalization stress, learned helplessness, and recovery were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficients. Multiple regression analysis was used to identify factors affecting recovery, and multiple group analysis was conducted to confirm the controlling effect of subject characteristics on subject recovery. AMOS was used for the effect analysis. Significant negative correlations were found between learned helplessness and subjective recovery (r=-.30, p=.002) and learned helplessness and clinical recovery (r=-.24, p=.014). Furthermore, gender (=5.81, p=.016) and outing (=4.84, p=.028) significantly moderated the relationship between learned helplessness and subjective recovery. These results show nursing interventions are required to reduce learned helplessness and reflect gender and outing to facilitate the recovery of chronic schizophrenics.
