초록

The study aimed to investigate the effects of Greek yogurt (GY) and GY fortified with coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) on biological parameters, including antioxidant enzyme activity and lipid peroxidation in ovariectomized (OVX) rats. A total of 24, five-week-old female rats were randomly assigned to four groups: The Sham group received an AIN-93G diet (Sham), the OVX rats group the same diet (OVX), the OVX group fed a diet containing 2.5 % GY (OVX-GY), and the OVX group fed a diet with 2.5 % GY plus 0.5 % CoQ10 (OVX-GYQ). After a two-week adaptation period following OVX surgery, each treatment group (n=6) was fed their respective diets for another four weeks. Feeding GY and GY with CoQ10 to OVX groups (OVX, OVX-GY, and OVX- GYQ) did not affect body weight, total gain, and abdominal fat weight, although the Sham group significantly decreased (p<0.05) these parameters compared with the OVX groups. There was no significant difference in blood biochemical components among the four groups. In antioxidant parameters, the OVX-GYQ group exhibited a significant increase (p<0.05) in the activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase in the intestinal tissues compared to the Sham and OVX groups. In the liver tissues, the OVX-GY group showed a significant increase (p<0.05) in glutathione peroxidase and glutathione S-transferase activities compared to the OVX group. In conclusion, GY or GY with CoQ10 enhanced antioxidant enzyme activity in the intestine and liver tissues of OVX rats, suggesting their potential as antioxidant supplements for estrogen-deficient dysfunction.
