This study surveyed the difficulties of biology teachers when they taught the fusing science in high school. Interviews and questionnaires were implemented for it. Biology teachers felt that it was hard to teach some chapters which were less relevant to biology, such as ‘The Origin and Evolution of the Universe’, ‘Solar System and the Earth’, and ‘Information, Communications and New materials’. Even as to biology-related chapters, they were under strain on the perspective of fusion science. There were some constrains of biology teachers for teaching the fusing science : ‘ambiguity of teaching levels of scientific concept’, ‘too much sophisticated scientific knowledge’, ‘lack of preparation time for the lecture’, ‘insufficient time for the course’, ‘not enough information of teaching materials’, ‘low self-confidence in teaching’, ‘deficiency of student’s interest’, and ‘problem of evaluation’. The major reason for biology teachers to feel the difficulties in teaching science was the difficulties of science textbooks. Biology teachers believed that the textbook were too high in the contents’ level to teach. Because of this, biology teachers could only teach the section directly related to their university major. In order to fulfill the goal of fusion science in high schools, it is suggested that the textbooks should be revised and improved, and the in-service teacher program for teaching the fusing science should be changed to meet teachers’ needs.
