The Effect of Early Childhood Teachers’ Character and Character Teaching Efficacy on the Implementation of Play-based Character Education* DOI http://dx.doi.org/10.62783/SHSS.8.4.32 Sujin Oh** & Sangock Jang*** Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of early childhood teachers’ character and character teaching efficacy on the implementation of play-based character education. The participants were 367 teachers working in kindergartens and childcare centers in Gyeongnam. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS 27.0 with descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression. The results were as follows. First, the level of character, character teaching efficacy and the implementation of play-based character education of early childhood teaches was generally high. Second, there were significant positive correlations among all variables. Third, early childhood teachers’ character and character teaching efficacy had a significant effect on the implementation of play-based character education. In particular, the influence of positive self-concept was very strong. In order to promote the implementation of play-based character education of early childhood teachers, it is important to improve the character and character teaching efficacy, and for this, education and support from the individual and institutions of teachers are required.
