간호대학생의 내적 통제성과 삶의 만족도의 관계에서 삶의 의미의 매개효과

This study aimed to examine the relationships among internal locus of control, meaning in life, and life satisfaction in nursing students, and to verify the mediating effect of meaning in life on the relationship between internal locus of control and life satisfaction. The participants were 177 fourth-year nursing students from two universities located in J city, and data were collected using structured questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 27.0, including descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. Mediation analysis was conducted using Baron and Kenny's method and Process macro model 4. The results showed that internal locus of control in nursing students had significant positive correlations with meaning in life (r=.259, p=.001) and life satisfaction (r=.206, p=.006), and meaning in life showed a significant positive correlation with life satisfaction (r=.425, p<.001). The mediation analysis revealed that while internal locus of control did not have a direct significant effect on life satisfaction, the indirect effect through meaning in life was significant (B=0.11, 95% CI=0.045-0.187). This indicates that meaning in life plays a complete mediating role in the relationship between internal locus of control and life satisfaction among nursing students. Based on these findings, it is necessary to develop educational strategies and support systems that simultaneously consider both the internal locus of control and meaning in life to improve life satisfaction among nursing students in nursing education settings. In particular, developing and implementing programs that link the enhancement of the internal locus of control with the exploration of meaning in life for fourth-year nursing students who are approaching graduation would be effective in improving their life satisfaction.
