Research on 3D Digital Techniques for Representing Length Variation in Faux Fur

초록

This study proposes a method for digitizing visual characteristics with a focus on length variation in specially processed faux fur. Experiments were conducted on two types of fur representing the characteristics of the research material, and the specific results of the study are as follows. The irregularity of length changes can be expressed by utilizing the [Variance] function within the CLO 3D software. However, when length change occurs in a fur material that forms a specific pattern, the Length Map must be applied. The UV Map was suitable for accurately reflecting the length difference and the square Map was efficient for expressing the atypical pattern. In addition, by reflecting the contrast information extracted from the image of the real fur when making the map, it was possible to naturally implement an uneven fur length. In multicolored fur, grayscale maps were applied simultaneously to the Length Map and the Color Map to allow the more pronounced visualization of the length changes. In order to increase the precision of material expression, it is necessary not only to improve the user's skill level, but also to develop the function and secure flexibility of CLO 3D. This study lays the foundation for further enhancing the practicality and accuracy of digital fashion implementation.
