담론장으로서의 배비장전-미하엘 바흐친의 권위적 담론과 내적 설득 담론을 바탕으로-

초록

This paper aims to analyze the fields of discourse in Baebijang-jeon. Baebijang-jeon is a pansori-novel with a wide spectrum of characters in the Joseon Dynasty’s social classes. Characters such as bijang(the name of assistants who supports officials) Bae, Jeju-moksa and bijangs, a higher official in Jeju province, and Aerang and Banja who are the lowly are facing the same situation with their own points of view. Mikhail Bakhtin’s concepts of hybrid construction and pseudo objective-motivation are applied, which are used as useful tools to analyze Babijang-jeon’s discourse fields into the authentic discourse and inner persuasive discourse. The results are as below. First, the analysis of bijang, Bae’s point of view is as below. The field of the discourse made from bijang, Bae’s point of view moves from the authentic discourse to the inner persuasive discourse, which leads to the new authentic discourse field. Authentic discourses turns to the persuasive discourses or arouses newly prepared social discourse field. The change in the point of view surroundings from the author or the characters influence reader’s way of inventing discourse field and their direction to create it. Bijang, Bae’s incorruptible character, different from Moosook in Goewoosa or Choonpoong in Leechoonpoong-jeon could be the main cause on the reversion of the discourse field. Second, the point of view from bijangs and a higher official in Jeju is distinguished with the view of the era itself and that on bijang, Bae. The eyes on the upper class or the rich made the corruption look worsen. Episodes presented over the solid field of discourse results in the fail of the reversion by the inner persuasive discourse’s reversion. The detailed and description on costume, itinerary and the feast can be assumed as follows; they made the discourse field about the community and the features in that culture more secure. Third, the point of view from the lower class presented the detailed view of the era with the hybrid construction. Aerang made different discourse fields according to the versions. Shingusurim-version’s description on Aerang puts the authentic discourse over the persuasive discourse. Unfeatured Aerang’s character in Sambul, Kim-version solidly makes the discourse persuasive one. Aerang in Shingusurim-version is somewhat overlapped with Uiyang in Goewoosa whereas Aerang in Sambul Kim-version could be categorized similar with Choowol in Leechoonpoong-jeon. Choonpoong’s wife who has different authority from Uiyang and Choowol takes the place of them in Leechoonpoong-jeon, which results in another field of discourse. All the results of this analysis can reveal the meaning of Baebijang-jeon as the old printed version and that of Shingusurim-version whose meaning has not been that much focused.
