대학수학능력시험 국어 영역 비문학 예술 지문 분석과 미술교육에의 적용

초록

This study analyzes art-related non-literary passages from the Korean College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) and examines cases of their application in art education to explore their educational implications and potential. It further argues for restructuring school art education to strengthen concept-based thinking skills and deepen understanding of the visual arts. Among 85 non-literary passages from the CSAT and its June/September mock tests administered between 1994 and 2025, 46 art-related texts were identified and classified into five categories: ‘art philosophy and aesthetics,’ ‘artistic expression,’ ‘art appreciation and criticism,’ ‘functions and roles of art,’ and ‘interdisciplinary convergence of art.’ Analysis shows that these passages focus not only on factual information but also on reasoning, interpretation, and critical thinking. Examples are presented of their use as motivational, supplementary, and assessment materials, along with results from their integration into a university general art course. The findings demonstrate that CSAT art passages can serve as valuable resources for fostering conceptual understanding and higher-order thinking in art classes, functioning as advanced texts for articulating and reflecting on art. This supports the need to expand art education toward a holistic approach encompassing theoretical thinking, conceptual understanding, and critical appreciation.
