Recurrent Periungual Fibrokeratoma of the Great Toe after Multiple Excisions: A Case Report

초록

A 51-year-old male presented with a periungual mass on the right great toe without a history of trauma. The lesion had recurred after three separate local excisional procedures performed at an outside institution, and a histopathological examination of the specimen obtained during the third excision confirmed the diagnosis of acquired digital fibrokeratoma. The mass was located on the medial aspect of the right great toenail and was identified intraoperatively as a pedunculated lesion extending from beneath the nail bed to the nail matrix. A marginal excision with electrocauterization was performed. At the 1-year follow-up, the patient showed resolution without any evidence of recurrence. In conclusion, fibrokeratoma should be included in the differential diagnosis of periungual soft tissue masses, and a complete excision incorporating the base attachment should be considered to prevent recurrence.
