세르게이 로즈니차의 영화 《두 검사》(2025) 연구
초록
Along with Alexander Sokurov and Andrei Zvyagintsev, Sergei Loznitsa is one of the leading auteurs of contemporary Russophone cinema. Born in Belarus and raised in Ukraine, he has consistently addressed state violence in the Soviet and post-Soviet space through numerous documentaries and five feature films. This article examines the formal and thematic characteristics of Two Prosecutors, his fifth feature, which premiered in competition at the 2025 Cannes International Film Festival. It first analyzes the aesthetics of stasis, produced by the Academy ratio, the desaturated palette and the fixed camera, together with the structure of delay generated by the time of waiting, and then verifies how these principles are realized in individual frames through an analysis of eight key shots. It further considers the way in which Nikolai Gogol’s “The Tale of Captain Kopeikin” is transposed into the film, and identifies four themes that recur throughout Loznitsa’s work: the theme of incineration, the theme of petition, the theme of repetition, and the theme of confession and misrecognition.
