성재(誠齋) 정규석(鄭珪錫)의 일제강점기 현실인식과 시적 표출 양상
초록
Seong jae Jeong Gyu seok is a descendant of Jeong Mun ik, the younger brother of General Jeong Mun bu. Although Jeong Mun bu achieved victories during the Japanese invasions of Korea, he tragically died after being accused of treason against King Injo. Because he personally experienced his older brother's tragedy firsthand, Jeong Mun ik moved to Jinju and built a new life there. In later years, Jeong Mun ik’s great-grandson, Jeong Sik, who called himself Myeongam, moved to Deoksan in Sancheong, remaining loyal to the Ming dynasty of China. In this place, Myeongam built the Mui Jeongsa, modeled after Zhu Xi’s Nine Bends of Wuyi, and reflected on Zhuge Liang’s loyal spirit toward the Han dynasty of China. Growing up in a family with such a legacy, Seong jae experienced the Joseon Dynasty, the Korean Empire, Japanese occupation, liberation, and the Korean War, which left him with a deeply conflicted heart. Seong jae’s key achievements include: rebuilding the Mui Jeongsa to honor his ancestors’ spirit; founding Samseongjae in Sancheong to educate young scholars; and managing the Mui Jeongsa to explore various fields of study and strengthen ties with Confucian scholars. Seong jae played a key role in the local academic community and, through connections with schools like Nosa, Ganjae, Hanju, and Nammyeong, embraced his duty as a Confucian scholar in times of national crisis. Seong jae expressed his scholarly and moral convictions through travel, believing that study alone was not enough in a time of crisis. Seong jae’s response to the Japanese colonial period in his poetry can be summed up as mourning the changed homeland, fostering loyalty, and honoring sages. Seong jae reflected on Korea’s past and mourned the land’s changes. He honored loyal figures and tried to follow their example. He respected sages and aimed to uphold Confucian teachings during modernization.
