Correlations between Nursing Competency, Communication Skills, and Job Stress by Nurses’ Clinical Experience

초록

This study was a descriptive correlation study that compared nursing competency, communication skills, and job stress according to nurses' clinical experience and analyzed their correlations. The participants were 249 nurses with 6 months to 8 years’ career at a hospital. Data were collected from August 13 to 27, 2025. The differences in nursing competency, communication skills, and job stress according to career were analyzed using independent t-test and one-way ANOVA, and the correlations of study variables according to career were verified using Pearson-correlation coefficient. The results showed that subjects' nursing competency differed according to career(p <.001), but communication skills(p =.226) and job stress(p =.230) did not differ. The correlations between research variables showed a high positive correlation between nursing competence and communication skills(p <.001), a weak positive correlation between nursing competence and job stress(p =.010), and between communication skills and job stress(p =.003) . This study subdivided career into years and identified the degree and correlation of study variables, thereby deriving new knowledge for career-stage classification. It highlighted the need for further in-depth research by deriving different results from knowledge regarding relationships between study variables in some career-stages. It provided an important foundation for developing educational programs for clinical career-stage.
