조선시대 산청 단계마을의 門中 형성과 通婚 연구
초록
The village of Dangae(丹溪) in Sancheong(山淸) began to take shape as a clan village during the late Goryeo(高麗) and early Joseon periods, when members of the Sangsan(商山) Kim(金) clan first settled there, followed by the Andong(安東) Gwon(權) clan, who established themselves based on marital and kinship ties through in-law and maternal family relations. These families built a broad human network by intermarrying not only within Dangae and Danseong but also with prominent families from nearby regions such as Sancheong, Hapcheon, Uiryeong, and Jinju. Through this process, they produced successful candidates in the civil and military service examinations, accumulated official careers, and nurtured figures distinguished by their literary talent and virtuous conduct, thereby rising to prominence as an influential noble lineage within the local community. During the mid-Joseon period, both the Sangsan Kim and Andong Gwon clans continued to produce talented individuals distinguished by their learning and virtuous conduct, as well as successful candidates in the civil and military service examinations. In particular, members of the clans who passed the military examination enhanced their family’s prestige through acts of loyalty and self-sacrifice during the Imjin(壬辰) War and the Jeongyu(丁酉) War. The two clans also strengthened their kinship ties through repeated intermarriages. During this period, the Andong Gwon clan gradually moved toward Seoinwha(西人化) with the Seoin(西人) faction—by forming academic and political connections with its members. In the late Joseon period, the Suncheon(順天) Park(朴) clan newly settled in Dangae, coming into mutual interaction and influence with the preexisting local lineages. The Suncheon Park clan built a family shrine to honor their founding ancestor, thereby establishing a foundation for clan unity, and they elevated their family’s status by continuously producing successful candidates in the civil service examination. The Sangsan Kim clan also produced scholars noted for both literary talent and virtuous conduct—the father and son Kim Ryeong(金欞) and Kim In-seop(金麟燮) in the 19th century being representative examples. The Andong Gwon clan, meanwhile, rose to prominence as one of the leading Seoin(西人) families in Gyeongsang-udo(慶尙右道), including the areas of Dangae and Danseong(丹城), and during this process, they also constructed the Sinan-Yeongdang(新安影堂).
