연민의 성학(成學)에 미친 조부 노산 이중인의 영향

초록

The great master of classical Chinese and Korean literature, Yonmin Lee Ga-won, owed much of his scholarly achievement (成學) to the attentive guidance, encouragement and unwavering support of his grandfather, Nosan Lee Joong-in. Nosan carefully selected nine outstanding teachers for Yonmin, ensuring he received the highest quality education to foster his academic development. At the age of 23, while Yonmin was enrolled at Myeongryun Professional School, Nosan encouraged him to persevere in his studies, providing both moral and intellectual support. Nosan collected his grandson Yonmin's manuscripts to demonstrate his dedication and edited them into an anthology, giving him the impetus to continue composing poetry. In his final wishes, Nosan urged Yonmin to carry on the family scholarly tradition (家學) and acquire scholarship before his fate. Yonmin not only fulfilled his grandfather's wishes but surpassed them, establishing himself as a distinguished scholar in the world of classical Chinese literature. To honor his grandfather’s legacy, Yonmin commissioned prominent literati to compose grave inscriptions for Nosan, thus elevating his posthumous reputation. Furthermore, he collected and compiled Nosan’s writings into the anthology Nosan Yugo (老山遺稿), ensuring that Nosan's works would live on forever.
