The Effect of Simulated Laughter-Based Exercise Program For 12 Weeks on Psychological Happiness in Middle and Elderly Women

초록

The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether simulated laughter-based exercise, which combines manipulated laughter, exciting dance, and flexible physical activity programs at G University Lifelong Education Center, can increase psychological happiness of 191 participants who were middle and elderly women in the program. The main variables of this study, psychological well-being, were examined through independent t-test between groups for homogeneity. Exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis were also conducted to verify the validity and reliability of the questionnaire data. Then, paired t-test was conducted to examine whether the laughter exercise had an impact on the participants in terms of psychological happiness. The findings were as follows: There was a significant difference in the participants’ psychological happiness before and after the laughter exercise (p<.05). Therefore, simulated laughter-based exercise program can be used as a cheap and easilyto- implement add-on to more traditional stress interventions.
