초록
The rapid advancement of science and technology, along with the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), has heightened the need to nurture scientifically talented individuals with convergent thinking and creative problem-solving abilities. However, middle school gifted education in Korea faces educational disparities across regions and institutions due to the lack of a standardized curriculum and systematic competency development frameworks. This study aimed to identify the core competencies and sub-elements required for middle school science-gifted students in the AI era. The research involved three phases: initial competency derivation through literature review, verification through interviews with 16 experts including scientists, teachers, and researchers, and two rounds of expert validation. The findings yielded five core competencies and 20 sub-elements: scientific inquiry ability, scientific thinking ability, convergent thinking ability, scientific communication ability, and information processing and decision-making ability. Notably, scientists emphasized explanation generation, argumentation, and collaborative communication more than other expert groups. Sub-elements reflecting AI-era changes include critical thinking and the ability to utilize mathematical principles and data. This study presents a practically applicable competency framework that considers continuity with elementary gifted curricula and incorporates field experts' experiences, providing foundational data for developing middle school gifted education programs and curricula.
