회당 장석영의 ｢호락설변｣ 연구*

초록

This study reconstructs Jang Seok-yeong’s thought as a coherent theory of mind and human nature through a systematic analysis of the structure and argumentation of Horakseolbyeon. Focusing on key issues such as the relationship between mind and qi, the sameness and difference of human and material nature, and the interpretation of the unmanifested state (mibal), it argues that Jang did not adhere exclusively to either the Horon or Nakron position. Rather, he understood the Horak debate as an internal Neo-Confucian inquiry into the structure of mind and nature. By affirming both the universality of original nature and the individuality of physical endowment, he emphasized the possibility of moral cultivation through the transformation of temperament.
