농가경제조사를 통해 본 농가소득 제고 방안 모색 - 경남 농가를 대상으로-

초록

Over the past decade, farms in Gyeongsangnam-do have exhibited a structure dominated by elderly farmers and small-scale agricultural operations, leading to stagnation or even a decline in farm household income levels. This trend poses a significant threat to the economic sustainability of the region’s agricultural sector. In particular, many farm households find it increasingly difficult to sustain their livelihoods solely through agricultural income, highlighting the growing importance of income diversification and policy intervention. This study analyzes the structural characteristics and income trends of farm households in Gyeongsangnam-do based on data from the Farm Household Economy Survey spanning from 2003 to 2023. The analysis identified several constraints, including aging farmers, limited land holdings, and low productivity. These findings suggest the urgent need for comprehensive policy approaches. Accordingly, the study underscores the importance of promoting farm scale expansion, encouraging youth participation in agriculture, improving structural conditions, and transitioning toward climate-resilient crops to enhance the income and sustainability of farm households in the region.
