초록
This study investigates the particle-removal efficiency and flow-field characteristics in desanders for ES-SAGD bitumen production via CFD simulations using ANSYS FLUENT and a realizable k–ε turbulence model. Analysis shows that increasing the bitumen viscosity (1–200 cP) significantly reduces the pressure differential between primary and secondary vortices, thus affecting separation performance. The separation efficiency decreased significantly from 100% at 1 cP to 77% at 40 cP, with fluid recovery rates declining from 49.25% to 38.26%. In high-viscosity regimes exceeding 80 cP, the particle-removal efficiency plateaued at approximately 23%, which signifies a critical viscosity threshold. This study identifies fundamental mechanisms governing desander performance in high-viscosity environments and provides essential design data for optimizing particle separation in oil sand production.
