Due to the structural characteristics of state violence, no one can be free from the possibility of becoming a perpetrator. Therefore, in the field of discourse on state violence, not only sympathy and mourning for the victims, but also interest and concern for the perpetrator must be made. The reason for discussing the perpetrators is to prevent the past state violence from being expanded and reproduced in a distorted form and to prevent another recurrence of state violence. In addition, for proper reflection, apology, reconciliation and forgiveness based on this, an understanding of the perpetrator who is the subject of the act must precede. Therefore, legal judgment and punishment in court should not be all about the discussion of the perpetrator. In the 4.3 Incident, there are relatively few literary interests and studies on the perpetrators. In addition, in most cases, the perpetrators reproduced in 4.3 Literature are embodied as non-human beings such as demons and beasts, and there is not enough opportunity to speak or are omitted at all. As both Mujangdae and Tobeoldae cannot be free from the fact that they have committed the assault, the discourse of the perpetrators of the 4.3 incident is bound to take on a more complex and multifaceted aspect. It is necessary to pay attention to and discuss the perpetrators who form one of the pillars of state violence in order to move toward a stage of proper truth-finding and punishment, reconciliation and forgiveness based on it. Above all, such efforts need to be made more actively in the field of literature.
