This study investigated the geology, topographic wetness index and drillhole data to identify the direction and risk areas of landcreep in the Banjiri, Micheon-myeon, and Jinju areas. Landcreep is a disaster in which the entire soil layer slides due to groundwater within the slope. These areas do not have a valley at the base of slopes and the landform type is bulging terrain. The geological era is represented by the cretaceous period of the cenozoic era, specifically the gyeongsang supergroup, and the rock types include sandstone, mudstone, and shale, which are susceptible to landcreep. The direction of groundwater flow coincides with the orientation of anomalous tree growth, groundwater outflow and collapse of stone walls related to land creep. The topographic wetness index (TWI) values are indicative of a first-order stream, despite the absence of a valley. Past aerial photographs revealed that points with high TWI values had experienced collapse. Therefore, based on these factors, the determination of the direction of landcreep can assist in identifying sites that require stabilization work and establishing evacuation procedures.
