Synthesis of novel asymmetric oligomers based on oligothiophene-naphthalene molecules and solution-processable p-channel organic thin film transistors

A series of novel thiophene-naphthalene based asymmetric oligomers for organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) were synthesized by Suzuki cross-coupling reaction between 2-bromo-6-decylnaphthalene and 2-decylthiophene, 2-decyl bithiophene, or 1-decylbenzene, respectively. Remarkably, AON-1 and AON-3 showed good solubility in common solvents. The fabricated devices showed the hole field-effect mobility of 1.4 × 10-2 cm2/Vs for AO, 1.5 × 10-2 cm2/Vs for AON-1, and 3.7 ×10 2 cm-2/Vs for AON-3.
