초록
This study used data from the 8th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2021) to examine the association between anxiety and quality of life (QoL) in Korean adults with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We analyzed 106 respondents with physician-diagnosed RA, providing population-level estimates for approximately 582,282 adults. Anxiety was assessed using the Korean version of the GAD-7, and QoL was measured with the HINT-8. Anxiety showed the strongest negative correlation with QoL (r=−0.48, p<.001). In multivariable models adjusting for sociodemographic, behavioral, and health-related factors, anxiety remained independently associated with poorer QoL (β=−0.012, p<.001), while educational level was positively associated with QoL (β=0.055, p=.040). Depression was significant in bivariate analysis but not in multivariable analysis, suggesting potential multicollinearity with anxiety. Overall, anxiety demonstrated a stronger association with QoL than depression. These findings underscore the importance of routine anxiety assessment and management in RA care, and highlight the need for longitudinal studies to clarify causal relationships.
