This study aimed to examine the mediating role of career attitude maturity and the moderated mediating role of hopeful thinking in the relationship between social support and college life adaptation among university students. An online survey was conducted with 314 college students. The results are as follows. First, career attitude maturity significantly mediated the relationship between social support and college life adaptation. Second, hopeful thinking significantly moderated the relationship between social support and career attitude maturity. Third, the indirect effect of social support on college life adaptation through career attitude maturity was significantly moderated by hopeful thinking. These results suggest that efforts to enhance college students’adaption to college life should not only strengthen social support but also consider career attitude maturity and hopeful thinking as key components in counseling interventions. The study discusses its significance, counseling implications, limitations, and directions for future research.
