This study analyzed the economic impact of the nano-convergence industry from 2000 to 2020 using input-output analysis. To do this, the nano-convergence industry was separately classified within the industrial categories, and different from existing methods, the Hypothetical Extraction Method (HEM) and the Causative Matrix Approach (CMA) were used to observe dynamic changes. The analysis revealed that while the nano-convergence industry has played a critical role in the national economy in the past, its importance has increased over time. In particular, the nano-convergence industry serves a key role in both forward and backward industries. Additionally, it was found that the close interconnection between the nano-convergence industry and other industries has been further strengthened in recent years.
