초록

The replacement of a Single Turkic Alphabet announced by the 'Organization of Turkic States' held in Baku, Azerbaijan in September 2024 and Russia's Special military operation from 2022 to reduce Russia's influence in almost all sectors as a major power can be expected to eventually lead to a Latinization in the post-Soviet space, but it can be seen that it varies from country to country. In other words, we expect a reduction in Russian-speaking areas and a decline in status, but there will be no rapid fall in the short term. No matter how many nationalists and pro-Western supporters deny the idea of a Central Asian Turkic origin, Russian still remains an important part of everyday communication and daily life and cannot be completely free from it. Kazakhstan, which has not yet switched to Latin, is also familiar with Cyrillic alphabet in Uzbekistan, where it has switched to text. In Kyrgyzstan, where there are no plans to switch characters, there are many Russian-Kirgiz bilingualism. However, it is clear that the number of generations familiar with Russian and Cyrillic Alphabet will gradually decrease and that Turkiye, Turkic groups, and Turkic cultures will replace them, and it is clear that a single Turkic letter will be an important means of this. However, the enactment and approval of a Single Turkic Alphabet is a victory in international politics for the Turks and their supporters of the post-Soviet space, and Russia, which has been forced to overlook this process, is a serious failure in its policy and diplomatic defeat.
