초록

The purpose of this article is to examine Yang Gui-ja’s novel with a focus on caring relationships, and to understand the perception of care expressed in the novel. When Yang Gui-ja’s novels, which mainly deal with specific, everyday life problems, are read from the perspective of care, the novel’s meaning becomes clearer. Yang Gui-ja’s representative work, Wonmi-dong People , reveals life in the 1980s through characters who cannot take care of themselves because they are busy taking care of their families. In addition, in the case of I wish for what is forbidden to me , which is an important starting point in feminist literature, a character with a weak perception of equality due to the absence of awareness of the fundamental human characteristics of vulnerability and mutuality fails to achieve the goal of women’s liberation in the process of caring for others, but shows the possibility of self-care. In addition to the justified proposition that a person who can take care of himself can take care of others, Contradiction shows that taking care of others can be connected to self-care, and novelistically embodies the mutual relationship between care and self-care. Through these novels, we can see changes in awareness, especially regarding self-care.
