초록

On September 12, 2024, the representatives of Kyrgyzstan approved the draft Common Turkic alphabet, which will be used in Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, including Kyrgyzstan. Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan have already switched to the Latin alphabet, while Kazakhstan has developed a policy of replacing writing and planned to complete the transition to the Latin alphabet this year. but the current president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev refuses it. In contrast, Kyrgyzstan has so far adhered to the Cyrillic alphabet, but its representatives have agreed to introduce a common Turkic alphabet, although the president and his government have not disclosed their intentions. In this study, I first studied the history of script replacement in order to consider several factors why Kyrgyzstan does not replace scripts. Based on this, it was found that the refusal or delay in replacing the alphabet was caused by linguistic, geopolitical and cultural reasons. Moreover, it has once again become clear that Russia will inevitably have a significant impact on the transition of the alphabet of the Kyrgyz language.
