삼성 이병철 회장의 기업가정신의 근원에 대한 고찰: 남명 이후 실학의 흐름과 이병철 가문 간의 연관성을 중심으로

초록

This study aimed to reveal the connection between Lee Byeong-cheol’s entrepreneurship with Jo Shik’s philosophy and current of Silhak(Korean pragmatism). Lee Byeong-cheol, the founder of Samsung, could be considered a representative figure of the first generation of Korean entrepreneurs, Moreover, Jo Shik(pen-name Nammyeong) is a main scholar of Neo-confucian in the milldle of Joseon Dynasty. Lee’s entrepreneurship is talent-first, rationalism, technological innovation, and national benefits through business etc.. In this study, we would like to prove that the origin of Lee’s entrepreneurship is the Nammyung’ philosophy and his Kyeong-Eui Principle(敬義思想). In particular, this paper focuses on the key figures who played a key role in the flow of Silhak since the mid-Joseon period and the connection between Lee’s family. To this end, this study examines the flow of main scholars of Silhak after Nammyung, and reveal the relationship between scholars and Lee family. Through the study of academic successors of Sihak, we examines the similarities between Lee’s entrepreneurship and Nammyung’s thought. The commonalities between Lee’s entrepreneurship and Nammyeong’s Thought are as follows. First, Lee emphasizes business ethics, harmony between profit and social justice, and trust and practice. All of them are practice of righteousness(義) which is Nammyeong’s key principle. Second, Lee argues that the patriotism and the public interest of business like as Nammyeong argues that academics should solve the suffering of the people in reality and provide practical help in their lives. Third, both Lee and Nammyeong emphasize basic thinking and insight through self-discipline(敬). Fourth, Lee emphasizes the tradition of speaking directly and communication, which is consistent with Nammyeong’s appeal to King for people(上疏). Fifth, Lee emphasized talent first and talent development like as Nammyeong put his all life to cultivate great talent.
