加耶 仇衡王 설화에 의거한 역사문화공간의 형성 과정

A Study on the Spatialization of Historic Cultural Sites Derived from the Folktales of King Guhyeong of Gaya

초록

King Guhyeong(仇衡王) is recorded in history as the last king of Gaya(加耶). Although he is referred to as Guhae(仇亥), Guchung(仇衝), or Gujahyu(仇次休) in Samguksagi(三國史記), the name Guhyeong(仇衡) is widely known today based on Samgukyusa(三國遺事). Meanwhile, Samguksagi records that he voluntarily surrendered to Silla, whereas Samguk Yusa states that he was subjugated after being invaded by Silla.Traces of King Guhyeong remain at Igungdae(離宮臺) in Miryang(密陽) and the Tomb of King Guhyeong(仇衡王陵) in Sancheong(山淸). Both sites carry historical meanings formed based on the records of Samguk Yusa. In particular, while some view Igungdae as lacking historical validity, the Tomb of King Guhyeong has been recognized by later generations as an actual, existing space. Therefore, this paper connects and presents spaces formed through tales with old maps. If we accept Samguk Sagi, the official state history, as fact, it is reasonable to call him King Guhae. On the other hand, the current reality of calling him King Guhyeong instead of King Guhae seems to be the result of later generations understanding him through Samguk Yusa. This suggests that the records related to King Guhyeong should be understood as a cultural phenomenon rather than a matter of empirical fact.
