독일 통일의 여정 - 문화 통합을 중심으로 -
초록
Germany’s reunification has been a constant subject of interest in Korea(a divided nation). The structure of East and West Germany, in which one nation formed two different systems and confronted each other, corresponds to the situation on the Korean Peninsula. Thus, it is the most important reference and example for Korea. Various early studies on the relationship between East and West Germany and their unification exist. Among them, some deal with the issues of exchange, cooperation, and integration in the cultural sphere. Although studies on unification are abundant, few cases deal only with the cultural field or view it separately. This study examined the process of German unification in the context of cultural integration. The macro flow was analyzed and a comprehensive review of the events that became turning points was undertaken. In this paper, the cultural exchange situation in the early stages of German division is examined, followed by a discussion of the policy changes made during the Brandt regime in West Germany and the results they brought about. The significance of the “Basic Treaty” in 1972 and the “Cultural Agreement” in 1986 is also analyzed. Furthermore, the progress and completion of educational and cultural integration after the fall of the Berlin Wall, as well as how they connect with the previous period, are examined.
